Socio-economic factors and academic performance of students in Morocco: Theoretical analysis

Abstract

The article examines the impact of socio-economic factors on students' academic performance in Morocco. It highlights how family conditions, such as living standards and stability, directly influence educational outcomes. The article emphasizes that parental education, particularly that of the mother, plays a crucial role in children’s academic success. It also points out disparities between urban and rural areas, with rural regions often lacking educational resources, thereby exacerbating inequalities. The role of social institutions and programs like Tayssir is discussed, noting that while they have improved school attendance rates, the quality of education remains a challenge. In conclusion, the article recommends an integrated approach that includes increased investments and equitable distribution of resources to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students.
