Digital entrepreneurship has become a major driver of innovation and economic development. However, the existing literature remains limited regarding its deployment in emerging and peripheral territories, particularly in the Moroccan context. More specifically, few studies have examined how startups located in remote regions leverage digital technologies to innovate, grow their businesses, and overcome territorial constraints. This study addresses this gap by exploring the role of digital entrepreneurship in fostering innovation among startups operating in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region. The research adopts a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews conducted with startup founders, digital entrepreneurs, and key actors within the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify the main mechanisms linking digital technology adoption to entrepreneurial innovation. The findings highlight four major themes. First, digital technologies facilitate access to broader markets and expand business opportunities beyond regional boundaries. Second, they support innovation in products, services, and business models through the use of digital platforms and technological tools. Third, they strengthen startups’ integration into professional networks and innovation ecosystems. Finally, the study reveals several persistent challenges, including limited access to funding, shortages of advanced digital skills, and infrastructure-related constraints. To address these challenges, startups rely on adaptive strategies based on frugal innovation, partnerships, and the efficient use of available resources.
